Challenges

The charter high school site contains several buildings, as well as athletic fields, parking and an amphitheater requiring a flood plain analysis and design solution to resolve local flood conditions, and a grading plan that included a no-net floodplain impact. In addition, the large project held the interest of several governmental agencies and required careful coordination to meet complex regulatory requirements.

Solution

Working closely with the architect and government agencies, we successfully created a site plan that met each of the challenges and all regulatory requirements, including retrofitting of storm water quality measures after project approval and grading.

Outcome

Project earned a McGraw-Hill Best of California 2008 Award.
