Challenges

Provide site improvements for Teichert Construction's new maintenance facility consisting of a 46,000 SF repair shop, storage yard and fuel station. The site contained an existing mobile equipment shop and active storage yard. The challenge was to maintain ongoing operations while providing site grading and drainage, and underground utilities for the new mobile equipment facility. The facility is located on County Road 29 in Woodland, California.

Solution

Laugenour Meikle provided on-site and off-site topographic surveys to define existing buildings, utilities, site features and drainage patterns. Through coordination efforts with the owner and the other design consultants, site improvement plans were developed that allowed uninterrupted operations of existing facilities during the installation of new utilities, grading and paving. Access to and from the facility was made safer by widening and relocating a driveway, improving the visibility of traffic along County Road 29.

Outcome

The coordinated effort resulted in a smooth transfer of operations from the old facility to the new facility. Teichert Construction has a facility designed to meet its needs and promotes safe operations within the community.
